Vehicle Repair Supervisor
19-21 years
Vehicle repair supervisors direct repair operations for many different vehicles. They coordinate the activities of a major vehicle repair facility and identify ways to reduce costs for more effective programs. Supervisors monitor repair orders and the use of parts and supplies. They also ensure that proper records are kept on vehicles and shop personnel.


Shop Supervisor
8-10 years
Shop supervisors direct the repairs of specific types of vehicles. They give technical assistance in troubleshooting difficult problems and inspect repaired vehicles. Supervisors design lay out of work stations and equipment, and assign work schedules. They also conduct training on the newest maintenance procedures and techniques.


Mechanic
4-5 years
Mechanics take on troubleshooting and more difficult repairs. They isolate the causes of vehicle problems, determine repair needs, and perform major repairs and engine overhauls. They also prepare maintenance records and conduct on-the-job training for new mechanics.


Apprentice Mechanic
